CORDAP Champions for Coral Innovation Accelerator Gala

Client: CORDAP
Event: Champions for Coral Innovation Accelerator Gala
Date: 14th June 2024
No of guests: 50
Venue: Exploring Space & Mathematics: The Winton Gallery

What was the event brief & objective?

The event was designed to gather CORDAP’s Scientific and Advisory Committee, global ambassadors, and potential partners to showcase the organisation’s achievements and highlight coral projects funded through the Coral Accelerator Platform. A new partnership with the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation was also celebrated, with a call to action urging guests to support CORDAP’s mission and contribute to the cause.

Why was the Science Museum chosen for this event?

The Science Museum embodies CORDAP’s focus on innovation in science and technology. Located in central London, this renowned venue was perfect for our event. We utilised three spaces – Energy Hall for welcome drinks and reception, Mathematics Gallery for the VIP dinner, and Exploring Space for general dinner guests. All spaces met our needs on the required date.

What sort of experience did you want to create?

We aimed to inspire and provoke discussions on coral conservation efforts among our guests.

How did you choose which spaces at the museum you wanted to use?

Olivia Sole played a key role in assisting us to select the event spaces by providing details on capacity, setup options, and photos for booking reference.

How did the Energy Hall, Mathematics Gallery: The Winton Gallery and Exploring Space work for the event?

The Energy Hall was chosen for the reception due to its proximity to the entrance and well-lit high ceiling. It easily accommodated the stage, AV equipment and refreshments bar.

Exploring Space offered a unique setting under a suspended model rocket for an atmospheric dinner event. There was ample space for AV equipment and a dessert station for after-dinner conversation.

The Mathematics Gallery, a beautifully lit and intimate space, impressed special guests with its smaller size allowing for speeches without the need for amplification and rich conversations to take place without excessive background noise.

Who were your catering and AV partners? Did they create anything bespoke for the event?

Bubble Food was our chosen caterer, with Lucy Scarlett and Harriett Hall designing a coral-themed dinner setting in Exploring Space and the Mathematics Gallery. They also recommended suitable menu options for guests with special dietary requirements.

AV services were provided by Kathryn Winterbotham and her team at Wise Productions, who set up equipment in all three areas 30 minutes before the event. They ensured the smooth running of the event by handling media files for speeches and providing a high-quality branded lectern.

Overall, we were impressed by the professionalism of both our catering and AV partners.

What feedback did you receive from guests?

Our guests praised the event, loving the delicious food and feeling inspired by our speakers’ words.
